"Eos" is the Ancient Greek word for dawn. I chose this image as the Featured Design for January 2022 because it symbolizes a new beginning, or dawn, of the new year.

This design is titled "Eos" because of the way it emulates the colors, patterns, and the beauty of a sunrise. Just as the dawn brings about new beginnings of the new day, January brings opportunity for new beginnings for the new year. A chance to reflect on the past, contemplate the future, and an opportunity to start working on improving physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being (improved self=improved life=improved world). The seven spheres encapsulated within the diamond shapes illustrate the sun rising in the east and traverses the sky westward representing the progression of time. This progression can be a reminder that time passes quickly and opportunities can be missed if not focused on well-being.
This design is made up of eight separate lattice structures that are colored, rotated and positioned to create the effect of a sunrise. Each lattice structure is comprised of a group of 30 concentric strips shaped like the edge of an orange slice, each having a different size, rotation, and color gradient between deep red to vibrant yellow. The seven diamonds and spheres were added to embody the movement and color changes of the sun throughout the day.
